THE ROGERS RESIDENCE

Template_Sunrise 01.jpg

Situated just outside of Nashville Tennessee in the Mount Juliet area is a new home for the Rogers Family. The client of this unique home was looking to build this new home on a 40-acre plot with a focus on longevity and sustainability. This home features 5 bedrooms, a media room, a gym, and a 4 car garage among other spaces. With a career in roofing, the client expressed an interest in making the roof a dominant feature of the home. Starting with mid-century inspiration the concept for the home is an entanglement of ground and roof being joined together to create stronger relationships between indoor and outdoor space. Further inspiration for the concept came about by thinking of how the owner would access various parts of the land. A pathway study was conducted allowing various pathways to join and intersect at major places in the home. As an example, the entry into the site has an axial relationship due east and is signified in the home via a large atrium space connecting guests to the lower-level living space. Other pathways intersect this eastern axis connecting home and site in a variety of ways. Working with landscape architect Tom Boyd, CW was able to create this seamless integration of land and architecture.
